This course addresses the Post-colonial History of Africa. We begin with the broad controversies around historiography and explore the many challenges of researching and writing African history.
Our broader topics include patterns of the African states, Economic, Education and Health systems, African Union, NEPAD, African Diaspora as well as elections, democracy, dependency and globalization. We consider the critical use of a range of sources. We follow the development of African countries and its interface with the world. We try to identify the questions that will help to avoid and combat the destructive mythologies invented by nationalists and racist narcissism in the reconstructing the Africa’s post-colonial.
